Daniel 3:12-18

21 07 2011

Daniel 3:12) “There are certain Jews whom you have set over the affairs of the province of Babylon: Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego; these men, O king, have not paid due regard to you. They do not serve your gods or worship the gold image which you have set up.”

Daniel 3:13) Then Nebuchadnezzar, in rage and fury, gave the command to bring Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego. So they brought these men before the king.

Daniel 3:14) Nebuchadnezzar spoke, saying to them, “[Is it] true, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, [that] you do not serve my gods or worship the gold image which I have set up?

Daniel 3:15) “Now if you are ready at the time you hear the sound of the horn, flute, harp, lyre, [and] psaltery, in symphony with all kinds of music, and you fall down and worship the image which I have made, [good]! But if you do not worship, you shall be cast immediately into the midst of a burning fiery furnace. And who [is] the god who will deliver you from my hands?”

Daniel 3:16) Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego answered and said to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter.

Daniel 3:17) “If that [is the case], our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver [us] from your hand, O king.

Daniel 3:18) “But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up.”

Talk about peer pressure… either worship this golden image I set up or die.   Now who does that remind me of in today’s world?  Oh, I know Islam; let’s see holy Jihad, infidels, yadda yadda yadda.  Yep definitely similar ideals, rule through fear and intimidation, but something else is also very similar; public schooling, today many people are seriously hurt by the hazing that kids put other kids through just to be popular for four short years.  I’m not saying that high school are terrorist training grounds, but in a way they are.  Putting pressure on anyone to change their views on their life style to conform to the so-called norm is just wrong.

Today so many kids just want to be normal, not be different, and in my opinion boring.  The reason they want this is because being independent and different is frown upon and can also lead to social rejection which is something no one wants no matter their age.  Society demands that people with different views and beliefs conform to those they deem normal, and if someone refuses society will force it with bullying that the peers will ignore, with some stating, “Kids will be kids.”  As if that will explain and excuse everything, people need to wake up, norms are a majority that’s true… but that’s only because we’ve had society try to extinguish any form of free thinking practically from the time we are babies.  It’s gotten to the point that parents do it to their children out of fear that their social friends will think something is wrong with them because their children have independent ideas.  I’m not from the 60’s or anything like that, but the reason I’m saying this is that I look around and not only is nothing new being made in America, but everything that is being made is being made outside of the US.
