Romans 12:1-8

11 02 2011

Romans 12:1) I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.

Romans 12:2) And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Romans 12:3) For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.

Romans 12:4) For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function,

Romans 12:5) so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another.

Romans 12:6) Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith;

Romans 12:7) or ministry, let us use it in our ministering; he who teaches, in teaching;

Romans 12:8) he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.

God really spells out what we are supposed to do with this one doesn’t he… Don’t become part of the secular world, and use the gifts that He has given you.  And yet it’s hard to follow isn’t it, “If your a good Christian you need to speak in tongues.” Is the message in most of the churches today and yet He also said, “If anyone speaks in a tongue, let there be two or at the most three, each in turn, and let one interpret.  But if there is no interpreter, let him keep silent in church, and let him speak to himself and to God.”

See God doesn’t want us just to say yabba dabba do in a language we don’t know… he wants us to glorify him.  And saying it in English, French, or Greek; we say, “We Worship you Lord.” God has given us each gifts, whether it’s to Prophesy, Tongues, Dreams, or Visions.  It’s something that God has chosen for us and each individual gift is for us to help spread his word.  The Church is his Body, not the Buildings but the individuals who make it up.

No one is less important than another; some may be richer, some better looking… but God doesn’t judge us on how big our bank account is or if we’re movie stars.  He judges us on how we act and how we live according to His Word.  Remember King David the lowliest shepherd boy and the youngest son of Jesse had the Heart that God was looking for.  God doesn’t look to how we act on the surface, he looks to those who believe in Him from our core to our everyday lives.
